“Cool and in the mid-70s” is an interactive exhibit premiering at 22 North Gallery in Ypsilanti, Michigan May 7 thru May 29, 2021.
Featured in the exhibit are two care-free girls from the 70s. The intention is to revisit a time when agendas were personal, interaction was complete, focus on the moment - real. To relive normal ritual where it was commonplace to sit and do nothing, say nothing, without impulse to check a phone or update a status. Where the ebb and flow of a slumbering day led to the greatest memories - created because they were given the time and freedom to unfold. Where no structure gave you time to think and then possibly turn to a friend to share those thoughts and realize that they are right there present with you and open to hearing and sharing your ideas.
Cool and in the mid-70s will also be an interactive exhibit. 22 North Gallery will transform the space to create the same room furnished with the same furnishings so that the public can take a moment to experience and document that same intimacy. There will be a building exhibit created with the polaroids and participants will also be encouraged to share their images and sentiments on their social media platforms using the hashtags #coolandinthemid70s and #22northgallery.
